Haselhoff

Goals and governance

The Haselhoff Family Foundation was founded on May 31, 1989 and is registered with the Chamber of Commerce for the Northern Netherlands under number 41014958.

The registered office is in Wedde (Municipality of Westerwolde, Province of Groningen). Wedde is the place where the ancestor Derck Haselhoff of the largest Dutch family group settled in 1637 as bailiff in the service of the drost of Westerwolde. The reason for the foundation was the need for support from family members: in order to be able to publish the results of years of family research in book form, the Chronicle of the Haselhoff family. Many family members became donors and the publication of the Chronicle in 1992 became a fact. In 2010, the New Chronicle of the Haselhoff family was published: an addition to the first book.

Objective

With the aim of 'promoting in the broadest sense of the word the knowledge of the Haselhoff genus and bringing together and keeping together matters related to this genus', the following tasks have been formulated:

  • Publishing writings and books about the family. Organizing family days. Acquiring and managing a family archive. Restoring and managing old gravestones.

This objective has been fulfilled in many ways. After the first Chronicle, a New Chronicle of the Haselhoff family was published in 2010. The HaselhoffBulletin is published twice a year. A number of family days have been organized in recent years and the foundation now has an extensive archive containing documents, (digital) photos and objects. Five tombstones from the 17th and early 18th century in the cemetery near the church in Wedde have been restored and marble text plates have been placed at the graves. in Wedde, the Haselhoff Society.

Board

From July 2019 Hillegonde Hazelhoff joined our board, but unfortunately she had to resign her task as treasurer at the end of 2021. Roelof Hazelhoff therefore takes over the task of treasurer, in addition to the chairmanship, until a replacement is found. Together with Albert, he will also remain a researcher. Bas van der Heide joined at the beginning of 2021. He will, among other things, maintain this website and contribute to articles in the HaselhoffBulletin. After the departure of Harold and Kees Hazelhoff, the board is back at the desired strength.
